A family of eight: two parents, six kids. The two parents work three jobs between them. They have two vehicles: One large vehicle which fits the entire family, and a smaller commuting vehicle. Both vehicles are old.

The commuting vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure unrelated to regular maintenance. They don’t have the money to fix it (much less buy a different car). If they scrape all their money together they’ll be $2,500 short of the estimated repair cost. They need the two vehicles (remember: 2 adults working 3 jobs + 6 school aged children).

So, what do they do?
