Do You Hate Your Life?

Posted: March 16, 2011 in Faith

Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. (John 12:25 ESV)

As I read this passage today I was reminded of an article I read about a young Japanese woman who had been in America and returned to Japan to work with Christ Bible Seminary over there.  In the article she stated that several family members had encouraged her to leave the devastation of Japan and return to the U.S. where she has contacts who can take care of her.

They assume that our goal for life is to physically preserve ourselves. But we know that our true goal is to die to the idol of self-preservation, and to be raised into God’s preservation, which is destined to victory.

“Thank you, LORD, for a present day example of what it looks like to hate our life in this world for the sake of eternity.”
