Let All the Peoples Praise Him

Posted: October 7, 2010 in Faith

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him!
(Psalm 67 ESV)

Living now as I do in a farming area, I thinned this psalm of thanks for a bountiful harvest very apropos.  It is more than a simple psalm of thanks.  The psalmist also asks (or spends most of his time asking) for God to increasingly bless them so that the world will come to see and worship the one true God.

I need to remember that if God has blessed me, it is so that I may draw others to Him.

“Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!”
