An Open Letter to Congress

An open letter to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Dear Congress Persons,

I just read a CNN article which states:

“Senate Democrats united to pass a financial regulatory bill that allows the government to collect data on any person operating in financial markets at any level, including the collection of personal transaction records from local banks that list customers’ addresses and ATM receipts.”

After having read the article I am shocked. Do you not see that this is a direct violation of the 4th Amendment? Should the differences between House and Senate version get ironed out and it land on the president’s desk, I pray he has the good sense to veto it. Failing that, I fervently hope the Supreme Court sees it for what it is and repeals it.

Once again, you (the collective “you” meaning our political leaders) have failed to represent the people. Please resign.

Most Sincerely,

Jason P. Franklin
