I heard a very interesting prayer today.

“We pray not that You would give us clarity, but that You would teach us to trust You when things seem unclear.”

  1. I’m reading a book by Brennan Manning on trust right now. He talks about the same thing, showing that a desire for clarity is often a sign of a lack of trust; when we ask for clarity what we’re really saying is that we want to be back in control.

(Unfortunately, while the book’s sitting on my nightstand and I can picture the cover, I can’t remember the title or I’d point you to it.)
