Pray for the City

Posted: August 8, 2009 in Faith

Then Abraham drew near and said, “Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?
Genesis 18:23, 24

It struck me this morning that Abraham is praying for the city.  It’s not even a city he lives in.  Oh, sure his nephew Lot lives there, but he’s not praying for his nephew to be spared or delivered or saved.  He’s praying that God would have mercy on the city.

How often, how hard and how earnestly do we pray for our cities (or in my case village)?
